ML Peacekeeper Wars

Farscape Peacekeeper Wars on SciFi January 16, 2006. 12:01AM - 4AM Eastern.

About This Site

January 14, 2005

Prowlers R Us is a fan site aimed at exploring the Peacekeeper "single" seat fighter/attack spacecraft.

There is a new section I am working on called "Flight Manual." This section will be based on my studies on military jets and will put a Peacekeeper spin on things you might find if you came across an online document for Prowler Pilots. I have some minor experience in flight simulators (FS9 or Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight) as well as access to a few books written about military flight and combat maneuvers. I hope to integrate information from the show and modify it as for space combat. Since I have only been in the air and control of an aircraft one time in my life the information is not likely to be completely accurate, but I hope it will provide some entertaining reading.

About Farscape

What is a Prowler?

Image of Prowler 3/4 view.

This is the name of the Peacekeeper single occupant F/A (Fighter/Attack) spacecraft from the show Farscape.

What is Farscape?

Farscape the name of a science fiction television series created by Rockne S. O'Bannon for the SciFi Channel broadcast in the United States spanning 4 seasons (88 episodes) and concluding with a 4 hour miniseries. Filmed mainly in Australia nearly all of the cast, crew and extras are Australian. Farscape was broadcast in the US for 15 months before airing on Channel 9 in Australia in June 2000. It is also the name of the project the main character John Crichton (portrayed by Ben Browder) was working on in the pilot episode.

What is Farscape about?

Farscape is about an American astronaut John Crichton (portrayed by Ben Browder) who is drawn into a wormhole which transports him to another part of the universe smack dab in the middle of a prison escape attempt. Farscape is a phenomena. It has a bit of everything for everyone; it's drama, action and romance all (or most) taking place in the outer reaches of uncharted space. There are heros and villains during the course of the show some change sides multiple times. In order to truely understand what Farscape is you would have to watch the episodes. Suspend your disbelief and watch the first episode of season one called "Premiere." Farscape is available at most Blockbuster Video Stores throughout the USA. It is also being rebroadcast in several countries. In fall of 2005 Farscape is to be rebroadcast in the US by Twentieth Television the syndicator division of Fox.

What is the big deal about Farscape?

Watch the first episode. If that doesn't grab you nothing stated about it will make you understand.

Where can I see Farscape for myself?

Farscape is being televised throughout the US on selected networks and syndicated through the television branch of Fox. You can also try your local Public Library in the DVD section. Watchfarscape.com has been distributing copies of several episodes if not whole seasons of episodes to Public Libraries throughout the United States in an effort to broaden the viewer fanbase. Blockbuster Video stores also often carry Farscape episodes found in the Science Fiction/Action areas.

Who are the Peacekeepers?

The Peacekeepers are part of a humanoid race called "Sebaceans." They are the militaristic race in Farscape who controls the region of space John Crichton first finds himself transported to in "Premiere."

Why would this site be of interest to me?

This is one of many Farscape fansites. As its name implies it will focus mainly upon the Prowler fighter and will then go into (eventually) other Peacekeeper or PK technology.

What makes this fansite different from all the other Farscape fansites?

Rather than try to tackle many different aspects of Farscape, my site will focus on this one vehicle for now. This will make it a highly specialized site for Prowler information, diagrams, tech talk and illustrations. There are many sites which do a fine job of discussing and explaining Farscape's other aspects and you can find links to these sites in my Useful Links page in the Other Fan Sites section.

How can I get involved in the community of Farscape fans?

If after watching Farscape you find it is frelling fantastic like many of us do, you can become more involved by visiting discussion forums on Farscape. Look in my Links page for the sites I recommend for such forums.

What happened to Farscape?

Farscape first aired in the US on March 19, 1999. At the end of the third season due to its brilliant success was promised funding for 2 further seasons. On September 10, 2002 SCI FI Channel announced that they would not continue beyond the 4th season. This was a great disappointment to many fans and due to a massive campaign on the part of sites like Savefarscape.com (now known as Watchfarscape.com) and sites around the globe who helped to keep interest in the show, Brian Henson was able to attain funding for a 4 hour miniseries which first aired on the SciFi channel on October 17th and 18th in 2004. Currently there are no plans to go through with a 5th season, but there is still hope for Farscape to continue in another form. ADV distributes Farscape DVDs in the USA and is currently releasing the first season in "Starburst Edition" DVDs which have additional material and pack 7 or more episodes per edition. The miniseries is available for purchase on DVD at various retailers and online stores starting January 18, 2005.
